Professional experience
Matthias Hofer has more than 15 years of experience in tax advisory. He supports companies in designing international business models and implementing efficient value chain structures.
His focus is on practical solutions in the areas of e-commerce, digital business models, reorganisations, voluntary disclosures and cross-border supplies of services, taking customs law considerations into account.
In addition, he advises companies on complex value added tax (VAT) matters as well as international VAT structures.
Prior to joining Grant Thornton, Matthias Hofer worked in the tax department of a Big Four firm.
Professional qualifications and memberships
Matthias Hofer has a PhD in Economics. In addition, Matthias Hofer holds a degree as Swiss certified tax expert and a Master of Advanced Studies in VAT. He is a member of EXPERTsuisse and the working group for accounting/tax/audit of the Crypto Valley Association.
Languages
Matthias Hofer’s mother tongue is German. In addition, he has very good command of English and good knowledge of French.
