Michael Merz is a Partner at Grant Thornton Switzerland/Liechtenstein and leads the Audit Financial Services practice at the Zurich office, with a particular focus on the audit of companies active in the crypto-assets space and start-ups.
He began his career in audit at a Big Four firm before joining Grant Thornton Switzerland/Liechtenstein, where he specialised in the audit of companies active in blockchain and asset managers.
He subsequently held responsibility for group-wide accounting and management control at a leading Swiss crypto broker, before returning to Grant Thornton.
Michael Merz is a Swiss Certified Public Accountant and a Licensed Audit Expert recognised by the Federal Audit Oversight Authority (FAOA). He is also a member of EXPERTsuisse.
His academic background includes a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of St. Gallen (B.A. HSG).
In addition to his native German, Michael also speaks fluent English.
